There are plenty of customization options available for the player character in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, but changing one's birthday, which might be one of the more expected options, isn't available. Players can change up their hairstyle, outfits, and even eye color whenever they want, but players can't change their name once it's been set on their passport, even if they can gain new nicknames from villagers on their island. They also can't change their birthday, which can pose a bit of a problem for any New Horizons players who may have accidentally input it wrong when first starting the game. Many have found themselves wondering why Animal Crossing won't allow them to alter it after the fact.SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY
Cosmetically, New Horizons has more customization options than arguably any other Animal Crossing game. Players can customize furniture in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, clothing, phone cases, and even computer screens. The introduction of the Happy Home Paradise DLC in late 2021 added even more opportunities, allowing players to design an entire town full of vacation homes and facilities. Add in the fact that there are thousands of clothing items to mix-and-match in New Horizons, as well as around three dozen hairstyles, and it's easy to see why so many Animal Crossing fans dedicate their time to making both their player character and their island as unique as possible.

The few things that can't be changed about the player character are, for the most part, determined at the start of the game. For example, players can't switch up their Animal Crossing island layout later on. Instead, they'll simply have to make use of New Horizons' terraforming features to shape their island to fit their creative vision. Other starting factors include the native fruit and flower type of the island, though this is easier to work around given how easy it is to acquire other fruits and flowers through both Animal Crossing NPCs and other players. Unfortunately, though, there's no real solution for players who aren't satisfied with the birthday they input for their character.
How To Change A Birthday In Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Anyone who wants to give their character a new birthday or correct a mistake made while starting up New Horizons will simply have to delete and restart their Animal Crossing island from scratch. While this isn't the ideal solution, it may work out well for those who have been playing since the game launched in early 2020 and feel as though the experience has grown stale. While some Animal Crossing fans may think it doesn't make sense for the game to require such extreme measures just to change a birthday, the reason becomes more understandable when considering how birthday events function in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
On the player's birthday, they'll be given the chance to go around to the villagers on their island and offering them cupcakes in exchange for gifts. More often than not, these birthday surprises in Animal Crossing: New Horizons will contain items from the birthday furniture series. If players were allowed to change their birthday at any given time, they could simply make every day their birthday, enable them to get an abundance of free items. These could then be sold or traded with other players for a significant amount of Bells. Given that even the most common methods of easily earning money, such as time traveling, at least come with other drawbacks, it's easy to see why the Animal Crossing: New Horizons developers seemingly didn't want to allow this.
